My Heart is Happy

It is funny how God prepares a person for life ahead. There have been many times I have asked why I was doing a certain task. At that moment finding no reason for my action but pushing forward anyways. It really shows that God sees the bigger picture. I spent a year in Ethiopia learning one of the top 5 hardest languages in the world to learn, only to move to South Africa and start all over with a new language. Yes, it helped to know the language while I was there, but even after I knew I would be leaving I kept pushing myself to learn Amharic. I get into South Africa and find out that in Badplaas, the small town closest to where I live, there are roughly 20 Ethiopians. It is a huge opportunity for me to reach out to them and share the gospel because I know Amharic. They asked me questions and engage in conversation. My heart is happy but I just laugh at God’s sense of humor. No other missionaries here know Amharic and those Ethiopians know very little of the local languages. It is moments like these that I know the Lord hears my prayers. I prayed to find my ministry spot here and to feel useful. Now my prayer is that I can start a ministry or Bible study aimed specifically towards the Ethiopians. All I can say is, Thank you, Lord.

Empower a Woman. Impact Generations.

Lydia’s Mission empowers and teaches women skills in rural South Africa to feed, educate, and care for their children by earning a living wage. When a woman begins to grasp her value in Christ through discipleship and Biblical training, her life becomes the first ripple of hope…that will last for generations.
